During the Mars Day of Scarlet Knight High School (refer to the Pizza Seminar play on Oct 7), the board game club leader (performed by Sriram) was playing with chess and domino. He raised this problem: How many ways can 1x2 dominos cover an 8x8 chessboard? I'm going to present the solution to this counting problem, solved by Kasteleyn (1961) and Temperley & Fisher (1961), to see its various connections to combinatorics we know.
