There's a function not unlike the ordinary chromatic function which is defined via colorings of a graph. But this function, defined as a polynomial in countably many variables, has other interpretations as well and hides many other invariants of a graph in its coefficients. It is conjectured to be a complete invariant for trees, and this talk will explore that.
